My own burnout symptoms began surfacing in 2021 and finally exploded in the summer of 2023. I was the token “good girl” — following all the rules, taking on everything, always saying “yes”, never saying “no”, supporting a team of 100+ associates in my career, being the primary breadwinner and caretaker at home, and buying into the illusion that this is what it looked like to succeed.
I had conditioned myself to believe that stress, anxiety, depression, dissociating, and exhaustion were the norm. I was so checked out, I didn’t see how badly my body was screaming for help — until everything came crashing down.
Everything I wasn’t feeling, expressing, confronting, and full-on avoiding finally came home to roost. Everywhere I turned I was told to “rest more” and “take breaks” — but no one was actually telling me what was going on in my body.
I was unconsciously addicted to stress, sitting on a mountain of unprocessed childhood trauma and grief, and my nervous system was finally crashing out, unable to sustain the pace I was going — leaving me looking for answers in a sea of chaos.
With no real strategy to help me, I decided to burn it all down.In the years that followed, I sunk deep into somatic work, trauma work, parts work, and inner-world architecting, all while unraveling the mindf*ck that is patriarchy, colonialism, capitalism, racism, systemic oppression, industrialism, puritanism, gender ideology, feminism, misogyny, and white supremacy — and more specifically, how each of these systems are woven into the fabric of our realities and bodies, resulting in a collective soul-level burnout.
During this descent, it became incredibly clear — we are attempting to thrive in a system designed to capitalize on our stress and profit off our disconnect.
In the years since my own tower moment, it has become my life’s work to support women whose stories echo my own, on their journey back to the systems and strategies that honor nature, our cycles, our intuition, our communities, and our relationship to the Earth.
